Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Datum collects, why, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
Datum is built on public records. The construction and development data in the product comes from public municipal meetings, development-application portals, and open government data. That is not your personal information.
From you, we collect only what an account needs: your name, work email, company, and role; billing details processed by our payment provider; and basic usage and device logs (pages viewed, searches run, IP address) to run and secure the service.
Why we use it
- To provide, maintain, and improve the service and your account.
- To send service messages, alerts you configure, and, if you opt in, product updates.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
Disclosure and service providers
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate (hosting, database, email, and payment processing), under contract and only as needed.
Retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active and as required afterward for legal and accounting purposes, then delete or anonymize it.
Your rights
You may access, correct, or ask us to delete your personal information, and withdraw consent to non-essential uses, subject to legal limits. Contact our Privacy Officer at hello@datumai.ca. If you are in Quebec, additional rights under Law 25 may apply as we enter that market.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and the practices described in our security page. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the risk low.
Changes and contact
We will post any changes here and update the date above. Questions or concerns: hello@datumai.ca.
